Tamerlane Books (previously John Freas Rare Books) began life in 1970. We maintained a shop and gallery in Bryn Mawr, PA until moving to our home, to concentrate in dealing only in the finest quality rare books, prints and related art. We are general "antiquarians" with an emphasis on the visual - illustrated books, fine bindings, color plate books, etc. - as well as prints, ephemera, paintings and drawings and related graphics.

We issue occasional printed catalogues (lists), list many of our books on major antiquarian internet sites and are inveterate "quoters" to those who make their wants known to us.

Tamerlane Books are members of the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers and the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America. We exhibit regularly at ABAA International Book Fairs, as well as many regional Book Fairs and Paper Shows.

Tamerlane Books has provided appraisals for Estate, Gift and Insurance for leading institutions and collectors.

Finally, we are available by appointment, seven days a week and welcome visitors. Our home is a short drive or train ride from Philadelphia. We have a small, frequently changing and select inventory. Come and see us!
